What distribution and versino are you using? What kernel version? There
were some alignment problems earlier ( I don't receall what kernel version
and redhat version 6.x series I think).

This isn't a snort issues and doesn't generally casue problems other than
being extremely annoying. Look at linuxalpha.org or alphalinux.org for
lots of discussion (a year+ ago) on this issue. What kind of alpha (other
than ev56) do you have?
