Start Snort "snort -D -s $"

I ussually start snort with the "snort -D -s $" command.Why do you have to supply the variable after the -s?Someone told me this was a bug in 1.9.Thanx -- =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Michael Shinobi a.k.a.
