Acid won't send e-mail

Linux slackware 8.1 apache 1.3.27 php 4.2.3 and qmail

sendmail_path = /var/qmail/bin/sendmail


when I tell ACID to send me alerts by mail, it tells me:

Successful EXPORT-full - 1 alert(s)

but no mail arrives me.

I've checked qmail log, and NO mail is tried to be sent, but qmail is
correctly configured.

what I can check to make e-mail sending possible ?

which potential miscufiguration ?
