Silly question: Did you specify an interface on Snort's command line (e.g.,
-i eth0)?

I'm sure this is old news but after spending an hour looking through google,

snort FAQ's, etc I've been unable to come up with a solution.

I'm trying to run snort on linux and I get what appears to be the "infamous"

OpenPcap() error in /var/log/messages.

I've seen lots of references to running under windows and updating wincap
and 
such and references with no solid answers to HP-UX questions.

I'm running libpcap 0.7.1 and Gentoo linux 1.4rc3. 

Is there an answer to this problem? If so can you fill me in please? I'm 
stuck!
