Try setting up a mysql user for you acid database that has access to log in from a remote location

Possibly you may have your sql user setup as username@localhost.  Try setting up another mysql user with the same 
permissions to your acid database, but with username@host_you_want_to_be_able_to_connect_from or username@*.  I may be 
wrong though becuase I don't mess with SQL much, but I've tinkered with it a bit in setting up chat scripts, message 
forums, and other admin tools.  I think this may be your problem.  Hopefully this information will help you out.  You 
can find well documented help files on setting up users in mysql by searching on www.google.com with something to the 
extent of "mysql howto".  Also make sure the box running the SQL database has ports 3306 udp and tcp open incoming so 
you can connect to the sql database.  Hope I don't get railed for this being off-topic.
