Check all your modification areas:

Acid
Php
And especially your snort.conf file... If you have an extra space or typo it
will be enough to stop the snort from starting!!

Hi,

I'm in the process of using your documentation to reattempt set up of snort.

I have a suggestion and a problem I'm hoping you can assist.

I'm am working with this document: "Snort 1.9.0 b6-228 for windows..." I am
at this stage: "Enabling Snort to Run as a Service"

Everything has worked and tested ok to this point.
However I got confused with the instructions at this point.  I think I
understand them, but then I received an error.

As when I try to start the service I get this msg:


D:\applications\snort>net start snort
The Snort service is starting.
The Snort service could not be started

A system error has occurred.

System error 1067 has occurred.

The process terminated unexpectedly.




I have not been able to determine what was the cause for this.  I never have
run snort as a service prior.
