Snort/Acid/mysql working but my setup might have been worng...

Hiiii...Alright i go it working on my LINUX machine i setup webmin and acid 
to veiw alerts and it seems to be everything is working. I just have a lil 
question. I installled snort on a machine i am running a websever from 
beofre which i installed from "tar" package. And the apache server has been 
working good. But the default directories for acid and adodb to work on is 
/var/www/html/ and the apache server uses another directory soo tryed to 
direct all the packages that need to use /var/www/html to USE 
/usr/local/apache2/htdocs <--- thats where all my webpage files are but it 
didnt work for snort/acid all it showed was the TXT version of acid not with 
all the graphics and graphs just the code.
Soo this is what i did i installed the RPM version of APACHE on the same 
machine as the TAR version i alread on it soo it created the directories 
/var/www/html and set the RPM apache server to listen on port 81 and only to 
the localaddy. And the TAR version i left the settings alone port 80. Soo i 
use this in my browser http://127.0.0.1/acid:81 and it worked to view acid 
fine but HOW SAFE IS THIS? And if it isnt what should i do? i used this as 
my reference
