Ian,

SFStats is an abbreviation for SourceFire Statistics.  The Unix variants 
of Snort have kernel-level statistical information (ie. things like CPU 
time, etc) collected if certain compile-time flags are enabled.

What you are seeing on the Silicon Defence site is what was the first 
effort towards achieving the same type of statistical information on the 
Win32 platform.  This effort for Win32 has since been abandoned due to 
substantial differences in how Win32 provides this information, as 
compared to the Unixes.  For historical reasons, there is an option to 
compile the Win32 version with SFStats enabled.  This should be 
disregarded, and will be removed as an option in future Visual Studio 
project configurations.

To avoid future confusion, perhaps I could persuade Michael Steele to 
remove this download option from their website.  Michael?
