MAIL FROM A NOVICE -- PLEASE FORGIVE

I am completely new to this list. So please forgive my
mail.
I am having a Checkpoint Firewall after my Router and
my Web Server is Apache on RHL. 
Can someone please tell me from where I can get a
detailed tutorial to install SNORT on a PC b'ween the
router and the firewall to detect and report about
intruders. 
Also is there any software to check the vulnerability
of my Network and my Servers?
