Snort Rule Id (sid)

Hello all,
I am trying to use the snort rule id for some post-processing of alerts
but cannot find it in the packet structures (AlertPkt's) passed from
snort.  Does anyone know where I can find the sid of the rule which
generated the alert?  Thanks for the help.
