DoS Alert in Snort

["Pathmenanthan Ramakrishna" <nanthan14 () lycos com>]

hi, im doing a research on DoS attacks and its detection using Snort 
IDS. There are many tools like tcpdump and MRTG to provide traffic generated views.

How do i perform it? in order to see it like to view bandwidth and 
cpu utilization when the attack happens..like the smurfs....

i need help on this....

san snortsnarf do this?

Can u suggest any other tools...linux based...
