database output

Currently I output both alert and log to my MySql database in snort.conf in
order to see the portscan trafficc thru ACID

output database: log, mysql, user=snort password=xxx dbname=snort
host=localhost
output database: alert, mysql, user=snort password=xxx dbname=snort
host=localhost

is this the right way to do it? could there be any implication to the snort
database?
