Hi, James

I can think of two ways to find snort on redhat.
In a lot of the init scripts (/etc/init.d/) a function calles 'pidof'
is used to find the pid of a named proces in order to send it
signals... Check out the scripts for examples...
Otherwise, if you have only one snort proces use the killall command
(see: man killall)... for example, to tell inetd to reload it's
config:
        killall -HUP inetd

Hope this helps,
Martijn

Snort starts just fine using my "startsnort" script but cat
/var/run/snort_fxp0.pid does not pull a pid, as snort does not have
one in /var/run . I've done some reading in man but cannot find an
easy way to get
the pid currently used by snort. I'm running RH 7.1.

James
