Snort / Acid Newbie question

Snort and Acid appear to be running just fine on my machine.  I am a bit
confused on whether I should set the "output database" in snort.conf to LOG
or ALERT.  Or should I create 2 entries, one for each.  I want to be able to
see what is going on whenver i launch my browser and access acid.  Can
someone shed some light?  I tried to access the snort faq first; however I
cannot get to it from the link provide on the snort website.
