error during compilation (ACID)

I'm preparing my webserver so that php will be compiled with gd.

Has anyone tried adding --with-gd support to php-4.0.6? It fails in gd.c
line 94.
So I commented out that line and I did a "make" again and it went
smoothly.

This is what I have now.

// typedef FILE gdIOCtx;

Is it critical to comment this out? But commenting it out makes make
successful.
