Requirements for a good Traffic Generator

hi all,

There is always a need for good traffic genarators to
generate traffic for testing and other purposes.

I am trying to collect some information regarding
the "Most" needed requirements for a good Traffic generator
so that i can come up with one, which might be useful for
people looking out for one.

If you have some suggestions please reply.
