SuSE 7.1 and snort

Hi All,
I am interested in using snort on my computer, which uses a dialup 
connection. I am running SuSE 7.1 with a 2.4.0 kernel that we made to be 
able to use a winmodem. I am still new to linux so I have some questions 
about snort. First, on the download page which do I want to download to use 
with SuSE? Secondly, which of the plugins/addons are
essential? I have heard lots of good things about snort from quite a few 
people and I am hoping to get it working on this machine without a whole lot 
of problems.
