RE: Re: HP Jetdirect Printers and portscans

In order to get this off of my network, I had to disable the Web JetAdmin
service, disable SNMP on the affected machine, and that still didn't stop
these scans! I had to go into the registry and find some obscure numeric
key in order to stop these SNMP scans. I don't remember where it was
exactly, but it seems to me that it was under a reasonable hierarchy,
probably HKLM-Software-HP........

Since the subject came up (again) ... does anyone know how to get the
users' pc's
to stop doing SNMP scans for HP printers? ... all the printers our users
need are
already installed in their "printers" window.

Uninstall the HP printer drivers, I think they go out and scan for new
printers for you. Make sure you don't have a machine with Web JetAdmin
installed too.
