New Year's greetings, SC-Lers, FYI, here's an interesting article about the application security testing space, from eWeek. http://www.eweek.com/article2/0,1759,2242973,00.asp?kc=EWRSS03119TX1K0000594 The author sort of compares apples and oranges a bit, IMHO, in comparing recent acquisitions of security testing product firms (e.g., SPI and WatchFire) with potential future acquisitions of source code analysis tool companies, but it's still worth a quick read. The good news in the article is, "The acquisitions, coupled with an increase in the number of providers offering vulnerability assessments, are indicators of a growing emphasis on increasing security in the development process."
