http://www.politechbot.com/p-04901.htmlBonus question: How many current or proposed antispam laws regulate political spam?
Answer: None, as far as I know. See: http://www.politechbot.com/p-04335.html -Declan --- Subject: RE: Jim Lippard on Dept of Homeland Security's illegal faxspam Date: Mon, 30 Jun 2003 09:41:20 -0400 From: "Miller, Barry" <BMiller () wbklaw com> To: <declan () well com>, <politech () politechbot com> I missed the post to which this responds, but the reference to "George W. Bush's 2002 'get-out-the-vote' campaign for Republicans" suggests that the exemption from the TCPA applies. Section 227(a)(4) defines an "unsolicited advertisement" as one that advertises the commercial availability or quality of any property, goods, or services. Charities and political organizations are exempt. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- POLITECH -- Declan McCullagh's politics and technology mailing list You may redistribute this message freely if you include this notice. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- To subscribe to Politech: http://www.politechbot.com/info/subscribe.html This message is archived at http://www.politechbot.com/ Declan McCullagh's photographs are at http://www.mccullagh.org/ Like Politech?
