FC: German hacktivists attack Lufthansa during shareholders' meeting

[If I may be so bold, perhaps Lufthansa is not the problem and the German 
government is? If Lufthansa were no longer to exist, wouldn't the 
government continue to deport asylum-seekers by train, boat, or bus? 
Lufthansa's revenue was approximately US$16 billion in 2000, at a 
government-rate of $500, the revenue represented asylum travel is something 
like half of one percent. --Declan]

Declan,
This article from the center-left German newspaper Frankfurter Rundschau
should be interesting to the list. It deals with a new form of
demonstration - Combined offline/online activities - basically DOS
attacks on the corporate website. Unfortunately it is only available in
German at this point.

Brief summary:
Currently an estimated 35000 people are deported from Germany per year
after their request for asylum have been denied. About half of those
travel on Lufthansa flights. The German "Initiativen Kein Mensch ist
illegal" (KMII) [Initiatives No Human Is Illegal] has announced an
online demonstration during the annual stakeholder meeting on June 20th,
effectively looking to shut down the server through a DDOS attack. The
protest is directed against the enormous economic benefits Lufthansa
receives from this practice and the dangers for the people being forced
to travel (2 deaths on LH flights, 1 on SABENA). As Lufthansa is
positioning their website at the heart of corporate strategy, KMII find
it the appropriate company portal to express their protest at.

On the KMII website, they are announcing to provide a DDOS software and
ask supporters to participate in the attack: www.stop-depclass.scene.as

dass es sich offenbar nicht um eine beta-version

 Nicht nur Unternehmen verlagern zunehmend ihre Aktivitäten
ins Internet: Menschenrechtsaktivisten antworten mit
E-Protest auf den E-Commerce. Am Tag der
Lufthansa-Aktionärsversammlung in Köln, am 20. Juni, wollen
die Initiativen Kein Mensch ist illegal (KMII) und Libertad
vor dem Web-Portal der Lufthansa AG online demonstrieren.

 "Wenn Konzerne, die mit Abschiebungen Geld verdienen, ihre
größten Filialen im Internet aufbauen, muss man auch genau
dort demonstrieren", so die beiden Initiativen in einem
gemeinsamen Aufruf. Die geplante Online-Demonstration ist
Teil einer Kampagne, die das Image von Lufthansa ankratzen
soll und dieKMII bereits seit zwei Jahren mit Aktionen in
Reisebüros, Flughäfen und im Internet betreibt. Sie richtet
sich gegen die Beteiligung der Lufthansa an Abschiebungen.
Das bundesweite Netzwerk antirassistischer Gruppen und
Kirchenasyl-Initiativen wurde im Jahr 1997 auf der Documenta
X in Kassel gegründet.

 Die Online-Demonstranten wollen, ähnlich wie bei einer
Sitzblockade vor einem Werkstor, den Zugang der
Lufthansa-Homepage verriegeln. Dafür stellen die beiden
Initiativen auf ihren Internetseiten (etwa:
www.stop-depclass.scene.as) eine Software zur Verfügung, die
automatisch Anfragen an die Lufthansa-Seite schickt. Der
