Chinese man jailed for posting Internet messages
The Associated Press

BEIJING -- A businessman was sentenced to three years in prison for
posting articles critical of Chinese leaders and the ruling Communist
Party on the Internet, according to a government newspaper report.

Liu Weifang, 40, was convicted last week of incitement to subversion by a
court in the Turkic Muslim Xinjiang region, the Xinjiang Daily reported.

A corps of computer police monitor the Internet for talk regarded as
subversive and block Web sites viewed as hostile. Internet service
providers have been told they must remove all anti-government material or
be held accountable.
