You see, allowing the government (or some other entity/process) to restrict post-facto distribution of information is so much easier a solution. You should realize what a horrendus burden it is on people to force them to montior their own behavior and actually think about the implication of what information/actions they place/allow in public. That would place an undue burden of personal responsibility on individuals that, quite frankly, is a little mean-spirited. People should be allowed, nay encouraged, to be lazy and slouthful when it comes to privacy. After all, some bureaucrat will be MORE than happy to create a new bureaucracy to "protect" them...
