Free* course in MD/DC area

To anyone on the list that is in the Maryland/DC Metro area. I am planning
on hosting a group study effort to go over the Metasploit Unleashed course.
For those of you that are not familiar with this, Offensive Security
produced a free short and sweet set of modules that they are offering at a
low cost. The request is that you make a donation of at least $4 to Johnny
Long¹s Hackers for Charity. Obviously, the more you can swing the better it
is for the cause.

Anyway, why would you want to attend this meetup rather than doing it
yourself? Good question! I hope to add value to the program though extra
discussion and lecture as well as hack challenges based on the modules.
Also, I am trying to get some of other people in the field to attend as well
to give extra insight into the real world applications and what¹s really
going on with each module. I found that a small group dynamic goes a long
way in helping to really understand material. I can also add that there are
some things in the course that can be expounded on from what I found going
through it. I do believe the Offensive Security group has done a great job
in producing the material, but there may be some new to the information that
may have some items they stumble on. This is where the group comes in. It¹s
a collaborative effort. If you are interested please contact me off list at
cshaffer {at} gmail [dot] com.

We are looking to start in December. The time/place is not 100% yet as this
does depend on the consensus, where people are coming from and how many will
be attending. You can expect it to be a weekend day/evening probably 2-4
hours for ~10 weeks as there are 13 modules.

Look forward to hearing from you.

Curt
