Trying to get the fragmentation and evasion to work *and* hit the right box to inject the remote exploit was a royal pain in the ass. I was hoping someone might be able to illustrate another way to accomplish it.
Was there any way of determining the mechanism used to balance load? Many load balancers use either srcip:dstip:dstport tuples, or else injected HTTP cookies to route subsequent connections to the same host. The second mechanism is most likely where the load balancer is doing the SSL termination, or where the traffic is HTTP to start with, of course.
Of course, if the server farm is using a shared session pool, and doesn't care how the connections are distributed, this becomes impossible, and you have to rely on luck. I think.
