There is no firewall on the box, or between the box and the users.
Why do these port not show up on nmap?

It is very difficult to help when you don't specify the parameters you
gave to nmap.

If you didn't provide nmap with a list of ports to scan, it will default
to scanning those ports listed in it's services file.  If the ports you
are interested in aren't there, then you need to specify which ports you
want scanned.
