Hi hartmut,if you know your way around UNIX i would strongly recommend getting solaris 10.
"zebra" routing daemon can handle BGP routing protocol in a very decent way.also with the "zoning" feature of solaris 10 you can setup a "farm" of routers and simulate a nice bgp environment.
if you are looking for other OS tools than I'm afraid i am not aware of anything else.
