Of course, and most apps (like Nessus and Nikto) have scripts for updating. But I believe we need to remind people of these facts when introducing them to bootable CDs, that is all. And it can become a pain to do it after each boot. Booting off a USB drive with one of the linux distro would be sweet. I know people do it and I don't have the equipment to test it. The only USB drive I have is 256 and I have stuff on it..=) -----Original Message----- From: Jérôme" ATHIAS [mailto:jerome.athias () caramail com] Sent: Sunday, September 05, 2004 2:55 AM To: pen-test () securityfocus com Subject: Re: Patch management tool In-Reply-To: <CD516D770B376D46B464D55DF2C9E1F0029F4692@BDCRILBMCRP> Hi, nowadays, many distibutions have own tools to easily update the packages. I think about "apt-get update/upgrade" for Debian, "yum" on Fedora... You could probably in an easy way write a little script (maybe playing with sudo) to automate these updates and cron it. As i'm not a Linux expert, take this just like a probable way. Regards. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Ethical Hacking at the InfoSec Institute.
