Hi List,

hi back,

I think a good portion of you guys use a VMWare-Linux setup when doing
pen-test (for many reasons).

indeed

The question i would like to ask is, which linux distribution works best for this specific purpose ? Obviously you
dont need a distribution with many fency Xwin features and preferably good networking tools built-in.

well you always could try an old version of slackware .. or redhat (as
targets) , also X is not a must ... you can install it if you want!
also take a look at knoppix-std, it has a lot of nice built in
applications( for a live distribution).

I am uncertain about which would work best in this particular scenario
and i really cant think of anyone better then you guys to give me
insight.

well all linux distributions i have used / known work JUST FINE in
VMWare, so it actually is more a matter of taste!

Thanks,

No problem!
