Ahem. Have you ever physically opened these devices ?

They very often use the exact same hardware as the PCMCIA NICs
themselves (for example Intersil Prism II chipsets, even Lucent
gateways are build like this). In some cases, the PCMCIA card is
simply hidden in the AP, connected to a BIOS and external antennas.

Now, is there any doubt that the MAC adresses of those PCMCIA can be
changed ? I can provide a few pictures of the internal of some devices
if you like.
