Do you have a link to stow?

Yeah, you're absolutely correct about the different approaches thing. I
was just throwing in my two cents since I've spent a lot of time
thinking about how software installation is done in general, and on Mac
clients in particular, in the last several years.

I prefer the stow approach because it lets me do the same thing for
Ruby, Perl, Python (I need all three daily :( ) as well as other
software I acquire or write, without needing to really learn the
vagaries of RVM and the like.

I didn't mean to derail the conversation away from your documentation,
sorry about that.

I think they do not cooperate because they have 2 way different approaches, I personally prefer brew since it does
not fill my drive with several copies of libraries that I may already have. I think it is more of personal
preference, that is why I will include both. Will have to play with stow, I have lived in the ruby world with RVM
and in Python with pythonbrew, I will look in to perl this year.

MacPorts has had gcc forever. I love it when it decides I need gcc 4.1
for something or other.

The lack of cooperation between MacPorts and Brew is why I avoid Brew; I
prefer not to have things besides me take over /usr/local.

I also have started using stow to manage ~/pkg for things like
interpreters - I'm not fond of the way any package manager tends to
interact with gems, CPAN, etc etc.

SL has the proper GCC so no need there. I will install macports and write a section for that if the person prefers
macports, also on ports I belive you can install gcc I belive they added that recently. Installing SL VM to write
a guide specific for that one.

Carlos, I know you love homebrew but I had issues...

Homebrew does not like he fact that I have MacPorts installed, and I'm
sorta stuck with it at this point...

I also had issues right out of the gate with the install of gcc. I
don't recall the error.

Might have something to do with the fact I'm still on Snow Leopard.

Hi Guys

After chatting with Mudge in IRC for a while and some debugging I updated my guide for and setting up
metasploit on OSX to also include the steps and configurations changes to also get armitage working, also
changed by feedback of some friends how to set up msf for use more in tuned on how a regular pentester would use
it instead of a code monkey like me :) your feedback is appreciated. I would like to make sure it works for
everyone before putting it on my page so I included the PDF on the procedure. Working on adding setting up
armitage for collaboration also.

Cheers,
Carlos
