Just a note on Technet subscriptions, courtesy of El Reg yesterday. Not sure how much impact it would have.

Jim,

If you become an MCT (Microsoft Certified Trainer), you get a Professional Technet subscription with your annual
renewal. It contains server, workstation and app licenses.

I guess that would be the hard way, though, huh?

Jim,

I would take a look at the Technet subscriptions. They are a good chunk of money, but if you are seriously testing
stuff it would be worth it.

They have two subscription types: Standard and Professional. The Standard doesn't include server products, application
servers, etc...only the Professional has that if you will be looking to "lab up" an entire infrastructure.

Hi,
I'm sure plenty of you out there have personal virtual labs for doing
whatever nefarious business you get up to in your spare time. My
question is this; if you're an individual and you want to remain legal
where is the best place to get MS Windows licenses and media? Most
people will want several versions of Windows and the cost of retail
licenses would quickly mount.

Regards,
Jim
