Hi, I don't think there is a text file that contains the version number. There are other ways to work out the openssl version other than running the binary. * dpkg --list | grep openssl * strings -a /usr/bin/openssl | grep ^OPENSSL_[0-9] * ls /usr/lib64/libssl.so.[0-9]* YMMV depending on the system and how OpenSSL was installed using these techniques. Regards, Jim I'm sure there are others ways to do this tool On 14 February 2011 12:24, Tom McCredie <tom () mccredie co> wrote:
Hi All – first post, just wanted to say I’ve learnt so much from this mailing list! Does anyone recall a text file that can be concatenated (cat) to show the OpenSSL version? I know this can be done on the CLI with $ openssl –version but I need to know if there is a file somewhere that holds this info? It’s a Debian box btw. Thanks in advance.
