home backup solution

I use DropBox for my backups. I've done a fair bit of customization on it. Check the DropBox Forums for info on scripts. I have my Work Windows laptop, an Ubuntu Linux box and soon to be home Hackintosh all sync'ing the Documents/Pictures and other directories. In terms of incrementals, it feels more like rsync in that it only syncs a section of an updated file. In addition, if two systems are on the same network, it uses a local connection to sync them. I use Windows RoboCopy to pull my wife's Documents and Desktop directories over to the Linux box so they get backed up too. Looks like 25Gb of stuff so far. Yep, I was impressed enough with their service to actually whip out my credit card! Dan On Mon, Apr 26, 2010 at 10:16 AM, Robin Wood <robin at digininja.org> wrote:
Carboneite doesn't have a linux client so that looks out, Jungle Disk is a Rackspace product and I've had good experience with them so it could be in. I'll have a look at it. The only problem could be that it doesn't seem to support incremental backups just single files. Any solutions that handle incrementals? I've probably got about about 5G to backup and was wondering about tape. I don't fancy building a large RAID system or buying something like a drobo as I know that I'll end up using it for normal storage rather than just backups and that will defeat the point. Any tips?
