US SIM for us travellers

In the past I've used http://www.telestial.com when I'm headed your way. A
quick look shows that the prices for US cards aren't very good. AT&T and
T-mobile are going to be your options for carries that'll take a SIM. If
you've already got a tri or quad band phone that shouldn't be an issue,
though I can't speak to the data plans.

Boost mobile is cheap. Not sure on the bands etc. Other pay as you go
might do the trick

This was looking quite good but it seems to be limited to CDMA phones,
in the UK we are all GSM/3G

Who are the competitors to these guys?

Hi
When I come to Shmoocon I'd like to be able to put a US SIM in my
phone so I can do data and voice for the week I'm there. Can anyone
recommend a cheap way to get pay as you go voice and data? I don't
need a phone and will probably only be checking mail and twitter so
not need too much data.
