SSH private key

    With the myriad of tools available to us; I'm assuming there has to be a
good one for this. I want to try to determine a pass phrase for an ssh
private key and information from my searches on the Interweb seem sparse.
I'm currently letting  thc-ssh-crack run (
http://www.securiteam.com/tools/5EP0R1FCKK.html) using Jtr as the password
generator.
    Is there a faster, more reliable, or preferred method available for
determining pass phrases? This is something I really hadn't considered prior
to today, but It would be great to understand how simple/difficult this
really is if a private key is obtained.
