The SANS folks are invited too.

But so is the rest of the community.

Bring what you want/need.
I will take care of the rest.
We should have some cool surprises in store for the event.
We do need volunteers to sneak beer into the hotel.
Any takers?

If you are getting non-SANS people in then I'll happily smuggle beer
in.

H John,

Thanks for the information,

This is a long conversation.... With beer.
1. Set levels, have a easy system, a hard system and a very hard
system
to get to.
2. Have apps. Web apps make the game fun.
3. Have a narrative. There should be a thread or a consistent
story for
the CTF.
4. Have systems you cannot get into. You will be surprised.

Hi John,
Any pointers on how to setup a CTF or pointers as to how to
structure the
rules etc.
Do you tend to use VM's or physical machines for the CTF, also i
take it
you set up the CTF with a goal or set of goals in mind.
I dont want to get too bogged down by what gear we need, rather
that we
need to start having the meetings. I'm sure once we start meeting
up a more
structed approach and increase in gear will be forthcoming.

By the way i loved the thread on defending a CTF a little while
ago, had
some awesome content.
Is it me or does anyone else close their eyes and hold their
breath when
then click on a link from guys who work in the security field? : )

PDC will be running a CTF at the SANS 560 event in London:

We will be running the CTF/Beer session on the fifth night.

Any takers?

Just me in the north then?

No, I'm in Sheffield. If you want to organize something round here
then I'm up for it.

Robin

I'll post a mail next time I'm down in London and see if we can
meet up
too.

I was wondering whether there's any CTF stuff we could set up
remotely,
need to give this some more thought and am a bit busy at the
moment
with
SAN504/60.

Hi Guys,

Also here in the UK. Could not believe some one bought this up on
this
mailing list I was thinking of doing the same thing but don't
know
anyone
else who would want to get involved. I know of DC4420 which is
London's
chapter of Def Con which I really need to pull a finger out and
go
to.

May be worth doing a PDC UK meetup?? Anyone interested? if so
let me
know
and I don't mind trying to sort some of it out.

I would say do it in London as most Security Professionals
would be
based
near there. Sorry guys from Leeds. Could do a meet up every six
months
and
alternate North and South.

See ya,

Duncan
