ASUS WL-500gP V2 Bricked

I have the same router, though it's a V1. I have tried a few times to get Packetprotector on it via tftp and have been
unsuccessful. This was new in the box from Ebay, and I never actually got what looked like a tftp image copy to even
start, but yet mine appears to have the symptoms of a bricked router too. I'm using a laptop running Linux. right now
I cannot even get an IP address, but the router powers on and the power light blinks on and off. I've spent very
little time troubleshooting it beyond this though... just keep putting it off.

Here are some instructions showing how to short out the proper pins to try and unbrick it:

If anyone has experience doing this and can offer suggestions on the best way to do it (tools, etc) I'd like to hear
them.

Subject: [Pauldotcom] ASUS WL-500gP V2 Bricked

Greetings All,

I have just purchased a few of the ASUS WL-500gP V2 routers and was putting packet protector on them, during the
upgrade on of the routers became inaccessible, the password was changed. So I rebooted, held the reset button and
copied a new image to the router via tftp. The new image always seemed to take, but the router will not boot up now.
The Power button just blinks at a slow and consistent state, any ideas.
