There is a --reason option you can use to make Nmap return this information to you.

the REASON part is what i want on each scan, and as you can see it doesnt always happen

Host is up, received arp-response (0.0041s latency).

PORT    STATE    SERVICE          REASON
80/tcp  filtered http             no-response


that second line is missing. what triggers REASON in a scan? i have mine set as an option on??
