Hi Dev team,

I'm came across a tool called "fimap" on the github. But unfortunately
that's not in any list of the orgs finalized by GSOC.

Hi Rewanth. Fimap sounds like a great tool, but the Nmap Project generally
only sponsors GSoC proposals which are directly related to Nmap itself. We
just don't have the resources to take on many more projects. So if you
want to propose this to Nmap, your best bet would be to tie it into Nmap
more. For example, you could decide on the most important/valuable/unique
features of fimap and propose reimplementing them from scratch as Nmap
Scripting Engine scripts and libraries. At first glance it may sound like
a waste to reimplement some functionality from this other tool, but
remember that, over time, the work maintaining a program can greatly exceed
that spent writing it in the first place. And, at least for the Nmap
Project, maintaining NSE code is a lot easier than trying to maintain an
orphaned Python program which hasn't seen development in years.

All that being said, trying to restart development on fimap and improve it
that way could be very valuable to the security and open source communities
as a whole too. So we would certainly encourage you to do that if it's
your preference. It just wouldn't likely be an Nmap GSoC project.

Cheers,
Fyodor
