Help! Zenmap's auth wrapper on OS X uses deprecated function

I'm hoping that someone subscribed to this list has some OS X developer
experience and can shed some light on http://issues.nmap.org/73

We are using a deprecated function to launch Zenmap with necessary
privileges, which is described by one commenter as "a horrendous security
hole." We need to bring it up to date so that we do not have compatibility
problems in the future. I've put some thoughts and musings on the
bugtracker, so I'd appreciate any thoughts here or there.
