I'm not an expert by aany means, but it seems the most logical idea would be to test them against local services. So if 
there's a script written to do something with mysql, it might be best to test it with different configurations to see what 
results you get.  It's something you can control and have the best hope of managing to run specific tests.

 So if anyone has scripts they want tested, please let me know and I'll see what I can do about testing them as validly 
as I can.

Figured this is the best way to get back into Nmap stuff, so lemme know.
