how do i troubleshoot svn co error E175002

Someone suggested that I start using svn to get the latest version of nmap
and so I installed svn and attempted to do so.

$ svn co https://svn.nmap.org/nmap
svn: E175002: Unable to connect to a repository at URL '
https://svn.nmap.org/nmap&apos;

That is what happens.  I've removed and reinstalled svn several times and
not getting anywhere.
I'm running on Ubuntu 12.04

Please help if you can,
