Thanks for this patch, and especially for including a test. The code has indeed changed since 5.21, but it was not hard to update the patch. The only problem I see is that it doesn't support the Max-Forwards header field, which is a MUST according to what you cited at http://www.w3.org/Protocols/rfc2616/rfc2616-sec9.html. I've attached an updated patch against current Subversion, along with two additional tests for Max-Forwards. Do you think you can make the necessary changes to make both the new tests pass?
