nexthost failed ipv6 on OS X

Hi,

I'm experiencing problems running a nmap connect scan (or any other scan for that matter) as a root against a 
link-local ipv6 address on OS X.
I get the following error:
nexthost: failed to determine route to <ipv6 address>

The exact same scan works under a non-privileged account. Any ideas?
