Nmap failed for 10.255.255.255

Hello,

I am facing one problem in using nmap for windows.
When I query for IP 10.255.255.255 then it quits -

nmap 10.255.255.255
Starting Nmap 5.21 ( http://nmap.org ) at 2010-09-09 14:25 India Standard Time
nexthost: Failed to determine dst MAC address for target 10.255.255.255
QUITTING!

on the other hand for this IP it works well on Linux using nmap command.

Could anyone please provide me solution on this.
