It seems that the issue remains in the binary stored here:
http://nmap.org/dist/nmap-5.00-setup.exe. I got the same message that
the MS
Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable Package failed to install. I'm running
Vista
Business SP1.

Thank you for the report. This fix was made after the 5.00 feature
freeze, so it is not included in the 5.00 packages. It will be fixed in
the next release. Does Nmap work for you despite the error message?
