I was just wondering if Ncrack is yet available for download?

Ncrack is currently under heavy development. Although there is
already working code available for the ftp-module, I strongly
suggest against using it just yet for anything other than crude
testing or source code reading. The reason is that the branch may
occasionally have 'partial' changes that do not allow it to fully run.

In any case, you can find the latest version here:
svn://svn.insecure.org/nmap-exp/ithilgore/ncrack

I worked on proofreading Fyodor's book, but couldn't contribute much due
to my workload. I've been following the nmap-dev list for some time, and
now that I don't have a "Day Job" any more, I want to try to help out in
the testing.

I don't have credentials for the subversion repository. Is that
publicly available, or do I need to apply somewhere?

You have to use --username guest --password "".
