I was surprised that it only saves the currently viewable part of the
graph, but that does seem reasonable.  I think it would be nice if at
some point in the future there was an option for saving the entire
graph, but that could make for some really big images and maybe have
other implementation difficulties.  But the current version looks good
to me.

I'm definitely not a regular Zenmap user (I fixed some bugs a while back but I
rarely even touch it), but I've liked the idea of saving the graph since I
heard about it.  Since I rarely use Zenmap I haven't tried Joao's patch yet,
so these next parts are purely based on what you're saying in the quoted
portion of the email...

I think saving the currently viewable region is the most obvious and best way
to go.  I would be highly surprised if it *didn't* do this.  Since the ability
is there to manipulate the graph (rearrange, zoom, etc), why would the save
feature only save some pre-ordained, whole view of the graph?

Also, instead of having an option to save the whole thing, can't you just
bring the whole graph into the window like (IIRC) it does to start with?

It is true that you can zoom out and get a picture of the entire
graph. But I was thinking of very large networks with many nodes. In
that case, zooming out enough to show the entire network makes the
text a bit fuzzy (this isn't a case with svg images, pdf or ps files,
which all support zooming in very nicely, but it can be with png
images). So, maybe a picture of the entire graph (at least for png
format) might require a couple of tweaks to guarantee enough
resolution.
I didn't realize that the pdf, ps or svg files supported such nice
zooming when I first made my suggestion, so the issue is relatively
moot. In that case, sorry for the noise :)
Thanks for the input,
Josh

Josh
