Unfortunately your machine only sends data, it never gets anything
back from the printer.  Service fingerprinting needs to get some set
of bytes back from a probe to do matching.

I've read that JetDirect can be used to do things like check printer
status, check paper and ink levels, etc.  Do you have a utility (HP
provided?) that will tell you the status of the printer?  If you could
capture that I think it would go a long way towards improving our
printer detection.

Wireshark called the datastream "HP PDL".  A little googling turned
this up:

I think with those documents we might be able to get something working.
A packet capture would still be nice if you have the time.
